“LIVING IN THE SHADOWS”..
"Living in the shadows" is consciously choosing what is partially satisfying, or systematically following what is a vague representation of the "real" something we know that is too be; by settling for the imperfect imitation or copy of God's idea of: true happiness, success, or fulfillment in every area of our lives.
Most people come to this point of compromise to the vision in their own hearts, because it's quite difficult to swim upstream - when the looming shadows of someone else's success or "model life" makes you feel stupid, small or insignificant.
For instance, anyone who has a child with a developmental disability that has not "settled" the heart issues around why their child's specific condition has occurred, will dread the challenges or limitations of that disability - and never "see God" or the extraordinary gift that is packaged in their child; despite the disability and its associated difficulties.
As we all know, these "disabilities" can have both redemptive and restorative impacts upon everyone who encounters them in a disabled child or adult, and calling them "special" then carries greater meaning; rather than just seeing them as handicapped - in need of our "help only"!
As the parent of a child with a disability, you can live in the shadows of those so-called "perfect families" that you see in your church or community, and miss the opportunity to "let your light so shine", as you courageously deal with and navigate through the pressure and the stress associated with debilitating disabilities.
God's plan of redemption - through Christ, allows us all to choose to live under "One Shadow" - the Shadow of the Almighty, and relinquish the care and the control of our burdens upon The Lord, while walking victoriously from faith to faith!
"His Shadow" of provision, protection and power is more than adequate for all of our emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual disabilities! So, don't live under any other shadows, because they can't provide the shade or shelter we require in this life; and they will disappoint you considerably, if you make any of them your source or supply as Christ lives HIS life through you and your loved ones!
