“HISTORY DOESN’T NEED TO REPEAT ITSELF”..

When as a community, we've not properly "healed" from the diabolical assaults, biases and unfair treatment that many "institutional powers" have perpetuated against communities of color through the numerous policies and overt acts of racism, we also may arrive at certain "true" but crippling conclusions that imprisons us to justifiably "angry" attitudes and indifference towards any attempts on our parts or their's to reconcile with the status quo to take our destinies into our own hands.

To actually change things around us — without asking for permission or without limiting ourselves to seeking support from the government to solve our own community's problems...

We must force ourselves to harness the collective wisdom and wealth of our own community's, to silence the common narrative around black folks being "desperate", "needy", or "disenfranchised", in some perpetual state of "catching up" and struggling, due to the influence of institutional powers, etc etc.

It breaks my heart to see many of our communities in shambles..But, we have a choice to "get up", and NOT "make ourselves a 'missionary cause' for white folks".

In other words, there are SO MANY that have gone before us with "severe" limitations, restrictions and oppression; but, they made NO EXCUSES for the state of affairs in their own communities.

They actually chose to do everything in their own power to control and to maintain relatively prosperous environments, when the whole of the community fully embraced and valued one another, by walking in the principles of "It Takes A Village" to raise up a child and to nurture a healthy family and community.

It's one thing to blame the government for the institutional role it has played in creating a socio-economic construct called "race", that has definitely further perpetuated the disunity and the indifference we "adults" learn over time — because of the implicit bias and prejudice that we encounter, no matter what level we find ourselves in the scope of society in our economic independence or bondage; depending upon where we come from and what we choose to believe..WS-3
