It's NOT "US" AGAINST "THEM"...
I've heard some people call this interview between Pharrell & Ellen one-sided, but as interesting as the response has been to Kim Burrell's sermon, even more intriguing is how we translate "anger" to GOD's COMMANDS, as IF we were "god ourselves"?!?
There is no US against THEM in our gospel presentations, and the reason we have very little room to judge or to reflect self-righteous achievement, is because NOBODY in this world can "live victorious" over -- SIN, SATAN or OURSELVES, without the GRACE of ALMIGHTY GOD!
It RARELY gets mentioned in these discussions, but is the HALLMARK ISSUE that needs to be brought to the FOREFRONT!! (READ MY BLOGS..)
When we address the issues of diversity, equality, equity, or inclusion, we do it with an openness to LEARN and UNDERSTAND the other person's heart and perspective! NOT on our soapbox of "do good" or "stick it to the sinner"!?!
In defense of Pastor Kim: She MUST "preach the word, in season and out of season" and give the admonition or warnings that the Holy Spirit inspires in love, but her commentary and perspective of scripture should always be balanced, prayerful and thoughtful to the audience. Pastor Kim has "no heaven" and "no hell" that she can put ANY of her parishioners into, but as an under-shepherd, she MUST be God's voice to HIS People as the Book of Hebrews tells us:
“We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away. For since the message spoken through angels was binding, and every violation and disobedience received its just punishment, how shall we escape if we ignore so great a salvation? This salvation, which was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard him. God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles, and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will.” (Hebrews 2:1-4 NIV)
While "the world" often speaks of "God being love", they also ignore the holy standards of scripture that forbid and discourages willful sin and rebellion of the heart!
There's a DIFFERENCE between "open rebellion of a sinner" and a "struggling saint in sin", and there is context for both that requires an address or redress that is NOT harsh or critical from the standpoint of our correction, encouragement or edification coming across as JUDGMENT!
The way we say what HE HAS SAID and IS SAYING, is the issue, so let's PRAY FOR ONE ANOTHER, and trust the Holy Spirit to use our lives to influence and impact lives with the truth, God's Way! #WS-3
