“WAKE UP..”
CHRISTIANS: Are you really trying to wrap your mind around what has happened in #ElPaso and in #Dayton? Really..?
Unless you're "biblically illiterate", "spiritually unconscious", and a part of the "pew sitting priesthood" that is completely disengaged with the Great Commission (GO!), the Great Commandment (LOVE!), the Great Exchange (RECONCILE!), and actively involved in the Great Community (CHURCH!), the "darkness covering the earth" will NOT be some "big mystery" to YOU!
We're doing a WHOLE LOT of "aggrandizing", "merchandising", and "socializing", but very little "strategic prayer and intercession" on behalf of those in darkness in our world!
And, because we're CLUELESS about the urgency of this very hour, by virtue of our APATHY, COMPLACENCY, and COMPROMISE, we're contributing to the current state of affairs in the world; by simply being "passive aggressive" in the way that we exercise our spiritual authority in the earth!
The "How To" of Carrying Out Biblical Mandates:
*Cultural competency (Kingdom Culture) is lacking — the church's organizational and operational diversity, is as broad as our community makeup is, but traditions and clergy/laity political structures are keeping most leaders focused on popularity, instead of real impact!
*Metrics for success challenge leader's visions — television ministry, private planes and sanctimonious titles can't any longer be the metric for success. "New metrics" only based upon the scripture, are an absolute necessity for the 21st century ministry.
*Biblical relevance vs cultural relevance — Does the world gage what "relevance" is, or does our alignment to Christ's Mandate for the church?
*Addressing the real "felt needs" of its own community — While meeting spiritual needs is the primary focus on the church, the prevailing societal issues tend to be ignored. Like the HIV crisis in black communities; a biblical and proper response to LGBTQIA+ issues; gay marriage; racial injustice/prejudice; unemployment; financial recirculation; the prison industrial complex/recidivism; abortion; health disparities; etc., the church must be prepared to consistently address these issues; and NOT for "sound bite" purposes or for political gain.
THE CHURCH is to pray, "prophetically engage", and intentionally tackle the problems of society, "by grace through faith" — in HIS Finished Work! WS-3
"Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived." (II Timothy 3:12-13 NKJV)
